The safety of our Members, guests and staff is always our first priority. With extreme and rapidly changing weather conditions becoming an increasing consideration, the Club has updated its Course Closure Policy to provide a clearer and more consistent framework for managing days of extreme weather.

The updated policy sets out the circumstances in which the course may be closed, or play temporarily suspended, due to conditions such as extreme heat, lightning, severe storms, high winds, flooding or other weather events that present an unacceptable risk.

Importantly, a decision to close the course will not be taken lightly. Wherever conditions allow, our preference will always be to keep the course available for Members. However, there will be occasions when the safest and most responsible decision is to suspend play or close the course.

Decisions will be based on the best available weather information, actual conditions at the Club and the potential risk to Members, staff and the course itself. Where practicable, Members will be advised as early as possible through the Club’s usual communication channels

The updated policy also provides greater clarity around when play must cease, when the course and practice facilities may be closed, and the process for reopening once conditions are considered safe.

We appreciate that course closures can be disappointing, particularly when Members have planned their day around a game of golf.

The purpose of the policy is to ensure these decisions are made consistently, objectively and, above all, with everyone’s safety in mind.
